Sukku Malli coffee is very famous in every South Indian place and has wonderful health benefits. 



SUKKU MALLI COFFEE - An amazing health drink with the goodness of dry ginger, coriander seeds, cardamom, cumin seeds and black peppercorns to protect your health and to recover from various illness. Drink it at least once a day to keep you energized throughout the day and maintain your wellness. Do not forget to make it for your whole family. Add jaggery/palm jaggery/palm sugar for making it sweeter in a healthy way.

INGREDIENTS – Coriander seeds, Cumin seeds, Black Pepper Whole, Cloves, Cardamom and Dry Ginger.

PREPARATIONS - Dry roast coriander seeds, cumin seeds, cloves, cardamom and black pepper on medium heat until you get an aroma of roasted seeds. Switch off the heat and add the dry ginger and saute in the heat of the pan.

Powder everything once it cools. Sukku Malli Coffee powder is ready. You can make this in bulk and store it in an air tight container, if needed.

METHOD - Bring 2 cup of water to boil, add the Sukku Malli Coffee powder and boil on medium heat until it reduces to half the quantity. Add palm jaggery (karupatti or pana vellem) or jaggery to taste. Once it dissolves, remove from heat, filter it and sip it slightly hot.

Note - If you cannot get dry ginger, you can add 1/2 tsp dry ginger powder (soonth powder). Dry ginger powder is available in all super markets.

We call this as sukku malli coffee in Tamil as we are using both dry ginger (sukku in Tamil) and coriander seeds (malli in Tamil) as main ingredients.

By adding this spice into your diet, you can guard yourself against uncomfortable or even fatal food poisoning.

5. Improve Cholesterol Levels - Studies have shown that by incorporating coriander into your diet you can decrease your levels of bad cholesterol. In one animal experiment, a significant decrease in bad cholesterol or LDL and an increase in healthy cholesterol or HDL were shown among subjects who were administered coriander seeds. So you're looking to lower cholesterol overall and balance LDL to HDL cholesterol, this spice may help do the trick.

6. Help Urinary Tract Infections - Coriander seeds are helpful in relieving symptoms of a urinary tract infection or UTI. Simply soak 1.5 teaspoons of dried coriander seeds overnight in two cups of water. Strain and drink, or just add to your morning smoothie. Although we call it as sukku coffee, we do not use coffee powder in it. It is actually used as a substitute for your regular coffee. We have already seen the goodness of dry ginger (sukku). As we are adding coriander seeds, cardamom, cumin seeds and whole black peppercorn seeds, jaggery (or palm jaggery or palm sugar), we are able to get the health benefits of all the ingredients by just drinking the sukku coffee. You can easily treat cold, cough and sore throat problems. Stomach problems can also be easily treat by sukku malli coffee.

SUKKU COFFEE RECIPE: INSTRUCTIONS

To make sukku malli coffee, add 1 tbsp. sukku malli coffee powder in the pan. Add 2 cups of water. Boil it till the water gets reduced to half of the original quantity. You can adjust the quantity of sukku malli coffee powder according to your preference. 1 tbsp. is ideal for making 1 cup chukku coffee. Filter the sukku malli coffee and serve it hot.
